Kantner 60th

GOSHEN — John H. and Verna L. (Ravens) Kantner are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.

They were married Aug. 16, 1953, in Pretty Prairie, Kan., by the Rev. C.M. Nutter. They moved to Indiana in 1955 after Verna finished her nursing training in Hutchinson, Kansas, and after John was honorably discharged from the U.S. Navy.

They have three children, Peg (Jack) Holwerda of Middleville, Mich., Vanja (Tim) Haarer of Goshen and Julia (Ron II) Sherck of Union City. They have 14 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The couple will be honored at an anniversary open house Aug. 17 from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Salvation Army, 1013 N. Main St., Goshen. They request no gifts. Greetings can be sent to the couple at kwhitepines@aol.com.

He retired from NIBCO in Elkhart in 1989 and she retired from Goshen General Hospital in 1993.
