Herman and Shirley (Neff) Hochstetler, Venice, Fla., are celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
They were married Nov. 1, 1953 in New Paris, lived in Goshen for 50 years and attended Pleasant View Mennonite Church.
He worked as a farmer and feed and seed corn salesman. He also worked for Elkhart County government as a weights and measures inspector for 13 years before his retirement in 2000.
She worked as a tax preparer for 22 years. After her retirement, she ran a bed and breakfast for seven years. After selling the bed and breakfast, the couple traveled the United States, Canada and Alaska in a fifth-wheel recreational vehicle for six years working with Mennonite Disaster Service in fire, storm and flood assistance. They are members of Bahia Vista Mennonite Church in Sarasota, Fla.
Their family includes Mark (Mary) Hochstetler, Novato, Calif., Barbara Baker, Indianapolis, Phillip (Sandy) Hochstetler, Portland, Ore., and Stephen (Pat) Hochstetler, Austin, Texas, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
